Members and characters
On this page
Summary
A member is a person in your guild; each member can own several characters. Open Guild → Members, then select a name to view a profile and its available editing links. If your character already exists, ask an officer to link it to you instead of creating another copy.
Where do I find members and characters?
For example, Sam can have a warrior and a priest. Sam's member profile brings those characters together. Each character also has its own profile.
Open Guild → Members to see the people in your guild and their characters. Select a member or character name to open that profile. The Roster page gives you a character-based view for comparing the guild's characters and their loot.
Characters without an owner appear under Unclaimed in the Members list. Archived members and unclaimed characters have separate sections that you can expand.
Can officers create characters for other people?
Yes. Someone with permission to edit other characters can choose a Guild Member when creating a character. Choosing a member links the character to that person. Leaving the choice empty creates an Unclaimed character.
An unclaimed character stays in the guild roster and can have loot recorded against it. The player does not need to have joined TMB first. It is a normal saved character, not a temporary guest record.
How do I link an unclaimed character to a member?
The player must first join your guild on TMB so they appear in the member list. An officer with character-edit permission can then:
- Open the character's profile and choose Edit.
- Select the player under Guild Member.
- Press Save.
The character keeps its existing lists and history. Joining the guild does not automatically claim a character with a matching name.
The same field can move a character to another member. Clearing it makes the character unclaimed again. This changes who owns the character record on TMB; it does not move the character to another game account.
Can I create several characters at once?
If you have permission to edit other characters, open Guild → Create Characters. You can create up to 20 characters in one submission.
Fill in the rows yourself, or paste a list of character names and choose Load Characters. You can also load names from a Warcraft Logs report if your guild has connected a Warcraft Logs account.
Loading fills the form so you can review it. It does not save the characters yet. Check the names, owners, and other details before saving. The page reports names that already exist. Warcraft Logs can supply class information, but you should check the remaining fields yourself.
What can I change about a character?
You can edit your own character's details. Editing someone else's character requires permission. Open the character's profile, choose Edit, make your changes, and press Save.
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Name | The character's name on TMB. Use the in-game name so imports can match it. |
| Class | The character's class, such as Warrior or Priest. |
| Spec | The specialization the character plays. The choices depend on its class. |
| Role | Its job in the raid, such as tank or healer. Choosing a spec can fill this in; you can change it. |
| Spec Label | An optional description, such as “Boomkin.” |
| Race and Level | The character's race and level. Available choices depend on the expansion. |
| Professions | The character's two professions. They must be different. |
| PvP rank and goal | Current and target PvP ranks, where these fields are available. |
| Alt | Marks the character as an alt. |
| Raid groups | Its main raid group and any additional group memberships. Guild settings may restrict who can change these. |
Changing class can clear an incompatible spec, so check both before saving. Character names must be unique within the TMB guild, including archived characters. If a name is already taken, look for the existing character before creating another one.
These edits update TMB. They do not rename or change your character in World of Warcraft. See Raid groups for more about group membership.
Can I change my member name?
Yes. Open your member profile, choose Edit, change Username, and save. This is your display name within this TMB guild. It does not change your Discord name or your characters' names.
Someone with permission to edit other members can also update your profile.
Who can see member and character notes?
Both members and characters can have notes. A member note is about the person; a character note belongs to that particular character.
- Public Note: Anyone in the TMB guild can see it.
- Officer Note: Only people with permission to view officer notes can see it. Editing it requires officer-note edit permission.
Each note can contain up to 140 characters. You can change or clear a note and save. Supported note displays allow simple Markdown formatting, such as **bold text** and links. Streamer Mode hides officer notes on the profile pages.
For example, type **Main character** for bold text, *Available weekends* for italic text, or [TMB wiki](/wiki) for a link. These examples apply to supported member and character note displays, not every short note attached to an item entry.
What can I see on a profile?
A member profile shows their characters, member notes, raid history across their characters, and recorded recipes with links to the character that knows each one. Archived characters can be expanded from the profile.
A character profile shows that character's details, notes, wishlists, prios, received loot, recipes, and raid history. What you can see depends on the guild's feature and visibility settings. You can expand wishlists other than the guild's current list and see a breakdown of received loot by equipment slot.
For editing these lists, see Wishlists, Prios, and Received loot.
How do I open a character's wishlist and loot editor?
- Open Guild → Members.
- Select the character's name to open their profile. Unowned characters are under Unclaimed.
- Beside the character's name, select wishlist & loot.
- Find Wishlist, Loot Received, or Rare Recipes, make your changes, and press Save.
The separate edit link opens character details, such as name, class, and ownership. Use wishlist & loot for item lists. Editing someone else's lists requires permission, and guild settings can restrict edits to your own lists.
Where are the wishlist and received-loot unlocks?
Authorized editors can find Unlock wishlists and Unlock received loot list on the member's edit page. These exceptions apply to that member's characters.
The Unlock Wishlist / Received Loot link in the character editor leads to this member page. It does not unlock only the character you came from. See Wishlist and received-loot locks, exceptions, and visibility for the full rules.
How do I archive or restore a character?
Open the character's edit page, select Archive, and save. The character's owner or an authorized editor can do this.
Archiving hides the character from ordinary lists while keeping its saved history. It does not stop the member from using the guild or archive their other characters.
To bring the character back, open it from the archived section, edit it, clear Archive, and save. Owned characters are listed under their member's Archived characters; archived unclaimed characters are in the Members directory.
How do I remove or restore a member?
An authorized editor can open another member's edit page, select Archive/Kick/Ban, and save. This blocks that person's access to the TMB guild and archives their characters. It keeps their records rather than deleting them.
To restore the member, open Guild → Members, expand Archived Members, edit their profile, clear Archive/Kick/Ban, and save. They will still need to meet the guild's Discord access rules.
Restoring a member also restores all their archived characters, including any that were archived separately before the member was removed. Check their character list afterward if some should stay archived.
How do I leave a TMB guild?
Choose /gquit on your member profile or beside the guild on the TMB home page, then confirm. This archives your member profile and characters. It does not leave the Discord server or your in-game guild.
You cannot rejoin on your own afterward. An authorized editor needs to restore your member profile first.
The TMB guild owner must transfer ownership before leaving. Disabling the guild is another option if the owner wants to close access for everyone while keeping the records.
