Edit Characters page

On this page

Open Roster > Edit Characters to update several characters efficiently. This administration page requires permission to edit characters (edit.characters). Use Members to browse people and profiles, or Roster to compare loot lists.

How do I find the characters to edit?

The filters work together. Choose them, then press Search to reload the results.

Control What it does
Search characters or members Finds part of a character name, the assigned member's name, or their Discord username. Clear it to remove the name filter.
Unclaimed Yes shows characters with no assigned member; No shows assigned characters. The default is No.
Is Archived - includes active and archived characters and is the default. Yes (red) shows only archived characters; No (green) shows only active characters.
Per page Shows 10, 25, or 50 results at a time; the default is 25.

The page buttons load another set of results while keeping these filters. These searches cover the matching guild records, not just the rows on the current page. There is no combined assigned-and-unclaimed option: switch Unclaimed to browse the other set. Column headings are not sorting controls.

To link existing unclaimed characters to their players, choose Unclaimed > Yes and press Search. Select the correct Member in each row and press that row's Save. Clearing Member with Unassigned makes a character available to claim again if it is active.

What can I edit in a row?

Column Editing behavior
Name Renames the character on TMB using 2 to 32 characters. Its text follows the selected class color. A changed name must be unique in the guild, including archived characters.
Member Search by member name or Discord username, then choose the owner. Unassigned clears ownership. New assignments must be to an active guild member.
Class Selects the class and colors its dropdown and character name. Changing class clears an incompatible spec.
Spec Offers specs for the selected class. Selecting a spec automatically selects its matching role and briefly flashes the Role input when the role changes.
Role Selects the character's raid role, such as Tank, Healer, or DPS. Role choices use role colors. You can override the automatic choice. This is separate from Discord roles.
Main Raid Group Changes the primary raid group. Group names use their group's color. This is separate from the General Raid Groups in Details.
Alt Check to mark the character as an alt; uncheck for a main character.
Archived Check to archive the character; uncheck to restore it. The checkbox stays red in both states. It is disabled unless you own the character or have permission to archive characters.

Light grey borders separate the character rows. The default Unknown choices for Class, Spec, and Role, and None for Main Raid Group, appear grey. A saved disabled raid group can remain selected, but cannot be newly assigned to another character here.

If the guild locks raid-group assignments, Main Raid Group and General Raid Groups are disabled unless you have raid-edit permission. Archiving keeps the character's history and removes it from ordinary active-character lists and claiming.

Use the chevron in its own column before Name to expand or collapse the remaining inputs below the row. Details start collapsed for each character. You can expand several characters at once; collapsing a section keeps its unsaved changes.

Details field Editing behavior
Profession 1 / Profession 2 Choose up to two professions. If both are set, they must be different.
Level An optional whole number from 1 to your expansion's level cap.
Spec Label Optional text of up to 50 characters that replaces the displayed spec name. It does not change the selected Spec or Role.
General Raid Groups Choose additional raid-group memberships independently of Main Raid Group. Clear all selections to remove these memberships. Existing disabled groups can remain selected or be removed, but cannot be newly assigned.
Public Note A note of up to 140 characters, visible to the guild.
Officer Note A note of up to 140 characters. The input appears only when you have permission to both view and edit officer notes and Streamer Mode is off.

On wide screens, professions and level share the left column, Spec Label and General Raid Groups share the middle column, and Public Note and Officer Note stack on the right. At medium widths, the first two columns stack beside the notes. On mobile, all three columns stack.

How do Save and Undo work?

Edit the fields, then press the green Save button with the floppy disk icon in that character's row. The same button saves its main inputs and Details, including edits in a section you have collapsed. Each row saves separately and shows its own success or error message. Validation errors in Details expand that section so you can correct them. Other rows and their unsaved edits stay in place. Saved changes appear in the audit log.

Undo restores that row's unsaved edits, including Details, to the values it had when loaded or last saved. It does not reverse a completed save. Save is available only when a row has changed. Leaving the page with unsaved changes or a save still in progress triggers the browser's leave-form warning.

Saving does not immediately remove a row that no longer matches your filters. For example, assigning a member while viewing Unclaimed > Yes leaves the saved row visible until you search again or reload.

Use the Edit character navigation icon to the right of the Name input for the full editor, including race and available PvP rank fields. See Members and characters for ownership, archiving, and the full set of character details.
