How to decide when to lock or reopen wishlists

On this page

Lock wishlists if your guild wants players to commit to their item order. Leave them open if you mainly use them to communicate changing loot needs.

When to lock

If wishlist ranks affect who gets loot, consider locking lists before you begin awarding items under those rules. Otherwise, players can move items up after seeing how loot is being distributed.

Give players a deadline, let them finish their lists, and review submissions. Then open Guild > Settings, check Lock wishlists, and Save.

When to reopen

Reopen lists when you want everyone to revise their choices, such as an agreed revision period. Tell players when editing opens and when you will lock the lists again.

To reopen all lists, uncheck Lock wishlists and Save. If you only want to open a list for new content, keep the guild lock on and use unlock specific wishlists instead. See opening a numbered wishlist.

When only one player needs a change

A mistake, spec change, or new raider does not require reopening everyone's lists. Someone with character-loot editing permission can make the agreed change, or you can unlock that specific member's wishlists.

Unlocking a specific member's wishlists opens all numbered lists on all of their characters for them to edit. Lock that member's wishlistst again when they are finished. Re-locking the guild's wishlists won't affect any specific exceptions you've made for just one member.

Tips:

  • Explain your editing rules before players submit lists, including whom to contact for exceptions.
  • Recording loot can still remove or mark entries received while lists are locked. A lock does not freeze loot updates or prevent authorized officer edits.
  • See wishlist locks and visibility for the full controls and exceptions.
